What are QR Codes?

A Quick Response Code, or QR Code for short, is a two-dimensional barcode that is quickly readable by a mobile device or a QR Code scanner. When a QR Code is scanned, it conveys a wide variety of information almost instantly. Though QR Codes and Barcodes have similar functions, QR Codes contain more information because they have the ability to hold information both horizontally and vertically. Barcodes on the other hand only use horizontal information. Due to this clear advantage, QR Codes have grown increasingly popular over the years.

How to scan a QR Code?

Nowadays most users scan QR Codes using their smartphone. This is possible because the newer versions of smartphones have an integrated QR Code reader built into the phone camera. There are also a wide variety of third-party applications available for free in the Android Play Store and Apple App Store. Once installed on a mobile device one could scan a QR Code with a touch of a button. 

What is a Static and Dynamic QR Code?

QR Codes are classified into two categories, Static and Dynamic. A Static QR Code is a QR Code that can’t be changed once they are generated. This means if you would like to update small details or change the entire URL you would have to generate a new code all together. On the contrary, a Dynamic QR Code has the possibility to be updated after it has been generated. Due to their flexibility, Dynamic QR Codes are highly recommended for business or marketing campaigns.
